    Baglamukhi Devi Bagalamukhi Devi Puja

Perform Bagalamukhi Devi Puja on Chaitra Navratri Durga Ashtami-7 April 2014

Bagalamukhi Devi also known as Pitambaradevi or Brahmastra Roopini is one of the ten (mahavidyas) Hindu goddesses of Power, strength, wisdom and a charismatic character to adorn the devotees. The Goddess wears an enchanting yellow dress and possesses a beautiful golden complexion. She rests herself in a golden throne in the midst of an ocean surrounded with yellow golden lotuses. As per Hindu rituals her name Bagalamukhi is derived from "Bagala" (distortion of the original Sanskrit root "valgā") and "mukha", meaning "bridle" and "face", respectively, meaning having a face which has a power to capture or control. Goddess is found to be in two avatars, The Dwi-Bhuja (two handed), and the Chaturbhuja (Four handed). The Dwi-Bhuja version is often seen and worshipped, also known as Soumya. The Goddess holds a club in her right hand to kill the demon and pulls his tongue with the left hand. This image resembles or interprets the act of Stambhana, a power to defeat or paralyze an enemy. This is one of the reasons why devotees worship the goddess to gain victory over enemies and evils.
